Hi does any one know the best way to keep the channel around the keel shoe (hope that's the right term) protected/filled. I've seen it filled but what's the best stuff to use ...M3 2500?

Hi, I have recently replaced the sealant you refer to on my boat, and after seeking some counsel from people better informed on this than me have simply used Sikaflex. Its flexible and waterproof so I hope it is going to be OK.
What I pulled out of the void was hard and brittle, and I suspect had little or no waterproofing properties. I'd be interested to learn what anyone else has used for this...

I just bought a 8.5 Kelt. Did you do the keel shoe job?

Good morning,
Yes I did and it worked fine - the second time. The first time we didn't manage to dig out all of the old sealant, and this compromised the effect of the new sealant.
We did it again and it is fine now.
They are fabulous boats and I hope you have lots if fun with her.

Did you use Sikaflex (how many tubes?) and how did you finish the joint? With a spatula? Any pictures?
