kelt 29 filling in groove round cast iron grounding plate

I need to refill the groove between the grp hull and the cast iron oval grounding plate through which the lift keel passes. the groove is about 20mm wide and 20mm deep.

has any body done this and if so what sealant did you use. did it grab well to cast iron and grp and has it been affected by salt water??
