Original bulkhead compass

Has anyone ventured to find a replacement bulb for the Suunto compass?  At least that is what is installed on my 7.6

I have a different compass.  I've looked into replacing it and found the cost to be shocking.  Pulled it out tonight.  May attempt to refurbish it.  Maybe defog the lens, epoxy the halves together, drill a hole, fill with fluid and put a screw in the hole.  A cheap refurb.  It's a long shot but might work.
