Kelt 850 rudder

Ivor
Hi
2 questions:
Is there a picture of what the rudder/skeg/shoe should look like, my rudder is damaged and I think from reading I've lost the shoe

2: how is the rudder removed?
TIA Adrian

Thanks for replying Mike, yes I'd seen that, trying to work out what's missing and how the rudder comes off, looks like I need to get the boat raised up to get the rudder off

You might have seen this. If you look at the first and last photos it appears that two or three bolts hold the shoe to another, small piece of iron.

Thank you very much mark, I had seen that a couple of months ago but had not connected it, thank you for the reminder, just want I need, also shows the rudder off and I suspect I do need to get the boat in the air. Considering getting a trailer made and Craning it onto a trailer to facilitate getting the clearance under the yacht

I would think you could have the boat pulled out at a boat yard and placed on it's keel. It seems you would be able to drop the rudder and do all the work you need. I think the rudder is only held on by a bolt at the top.  Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks Mark. The boat is out already, we crane out for winter, wasn't sure if there's enough clearance to drop the rudder, I'll give it a try, thanks again

Yes I think you're right. Depending on what you need to do you may be able to leave the rudder in place. Or dig a hole ;)  Best of luck!
