Hey everyone! Took on the big job of stripping down Aleta's underside. When I got her last year she had YEARS of bottom paint build up, and there were big flaked sections that needed to be sorted out. I sailed her as is, but this year started scraping. What a job! It's taken me a month to get to this point, where the bottom is sanded and we're getting ready for final cleaning and paint.
I also still need to strip the keel, but that's a few hours work this weekend.
Just getting startedFurther alongUsed a pressure washer for *alot* of loose stuff. I would do it again, but more carefully. Broke the gel in a couple of spots.Hull finishedWe also had to knock the cradle down as you can see so we could paint the undersides of where it touched. Brilliant idea from a friend of mine as the yard wasn't really cooperating with giving me one of my lifts to put it on stands.
I plan on launching on Wednesday next week, so between now and then I need to:
1. Scrape the keel
2. 7 coats of Interprotect 2000E on the Keel
3. 5 coats for the hull
4. 1 coat of red Micron CSC for indicator coat
5. 2 coats of black Micron CSC for the antifoul finish.
6. Sand if necessary
